About Math Day 2017 - Thursday, November 2, 2017

Registration Deadline: Monday, October 23, 2017

Each year since 1977 the Department has hosted Colorado State University Math Day. Math Day attracts 300 to 400 of the best high school math students from Colorado and neighboring states for a day of mathematics competition. A highlight of the day is a college-bowl-style competition which features a full, double-elimination tournament with 3-member teams from 64 schools. This annual event has given the Department the opportunity to maintain close ties with Colorado secondary schools, and develop new associations with those schools in neighboring states. This year, in place of the PROBE Exam, we will inaugurate the Math Day Public Lecture Series and Mathematics Fair.

The purpose of Math Day is threefold

  • To promote interest and reward excellence in high school mathematics.
  • To strenghten ties and encourage communication between high school mathematics programs and the Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University
  • To recruit excellent mathematics students to Colorado State University.

Events will include

  • Math Day Public Lecture and Mathematics Fair
  • TEAM: A college bowl-type tournament involving three-member teams.
